Katie Cassidy Lands Female Lead Role in Arrow

Posted by Abby with 0 Comments

Katie Cassidy (“Gossip Girl,” “Melrose Place,” “Supernatural”) has landed the female lead role in The CW’s Green Arrow pilot “Arrow,” reports Deadline. She’ll be joining Stephen Amell in the Warner Bros. TV project and is set to play Laurel, “a young legal clinic attorney who shares a romantic past with Oliver (In the comics, the character, Dinah “Laurel” Lance, has a superhero alter ego, Black Canary.)”

Susanna Thompson was also cast yesterday as Oliver’s mother, Moira Queen.

The pilot is about a 27-year-old reformed bad boy, who after having spent five years shipwrecked on a tiny, brutally dangerous island in the South China Sea, returns to town a different man. Or to be more specific, a tortured, thoughtful master of the bow with a ferocious determination to make a difference.

David Nutter is directing the pilot, written/executive produced by Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim.
